Our Partnership with Educators: Recommitting to the 2015-2016 School Year!

Just like educators, we recommit ourselves each fall to creating the best outcome we can, for students, educators and the schools. For i-SAFE Ventures, it comes down to two things.

First, be a great partner to educators and students. Help them be successful.

Teachers have a big job, and not enough time to do it. We offer a solution to supplementary educational programs. We design lesson content that integrates with core subject matter so that teachers can reach broader educational goals while reinforcing e-safety and digital citizenship skills throughout the school year. We also provide materials and multimedia resources that teachers can use to deliver instruction in a blended learning environment.

We have a large library of curriculum and multimedia resources, extending this year to include 389 age-appropriate K-12 lessons, and we are constantly refreshing content to meet the needs of a 21st century classroom.

While direct instruction is an effective strategy, we are increasingly developing lessons that take student-centered approach; teachers take on the role of a “guide on the side” vs. “the sage on the stage.” This strategy is particularly important when delivering e-safety and digital citizenship instruction to secondary students as social media apps and digital communications are an integral part of their social lives. Through project-based learning activities and group discussions, teachers guide students toward desired learning outcomes. Our new digital lessons feature multimedia content using graphics, animations, audio and interactive content to engage students and enhance the learning experience. Each digital lesson is accompanied by a teacher guide and printable activity pages.

Online Personal Safety Units have been expanded, redesigned for use in a blended classroom environment and refreshed with content updates, PowerPoint presentations, and a new approach. Lesson content has also been updated to in response to new technologies and applications: mobile phones, text messaging, social networking websites and apps. COPPA, Privacy Policies, Terms of Use, and the value of protecting personal identifying information is emphasized.

At the same time, we make sure the foundation is strong. Every lesson is designed to meet CCSS, NETS and AASL standards.

Second, help schools meet and exceed CIPA requirements simply and effectively.

As the use of technology and digital media in education increases, schools are more dependent on having a robust telecommunications infrastructure. In the vast majority of cases, they are also dependent on the E-Rate program to fund that infrastructure, and must comply with CIPA requirements.

i-SAFE is committed to helping schools meet CIPA/E-Rate requirements with current, high-quality learning content, with simpler administration oversight and quick, built-in reporting. Our 2015-2016 Fall release focuses more great content including printable lesson plans and a series of interactive lessons directly on E-Rate mandated topics: Appropriate Online Behavior, Social Networking and Chat Rooms, and Cyberbullying.

While schools can choose to download “free” content. We commit to helping them meet their requirements better and, in the long run, more cost-effectively.

i-SAFE has been a partner to educators since 1998. Every year we commit to helping you succeed, and we’re proud to do so again. Have a great year!
